How the calculator works
Here’s how we calculated the chart:
- Insert the kWh energy costs from your Alliant Energy bill. This will help the calculator estimate your energy costs. The calculator is set at a default that is similar to Alliant Energy’s average rate.
- Select the items you use in your home. The calculator will use averages for usage and wattage to calculate the estimated cost of electricity in your home.
- Compare costs with and without particular appliances. By clicking on and off different appliances, you can see the difference each item makes in your monthly energy bill.
