Saving Energy: Heating & Air Conditioning

Getting Started – Utility Incentives

Before you make the final decision on your new heating and cooling system, be sure to investigate rebates and other incentives from your utility companies.

Most electric and gas providers offer cash-back rebates or low-interest financing for customers who purchase energy-smart equipment. In many cases, the incentive amount can cover the added cost of upgrading to high-efficiency products.

Alliant Energy efficiency incentives

If you’re an Alliant Energy utility customer in Iowa, Minnesota or Wisconsin, you can take advantage of money-saving incentives on your new heating or air conditioning equipment.

Iowa and Minnesota incentives

With Alliant Energy’s Efficiency Solutions program, homeowners in Iowa and Minnesota can earn cash back on a variety of high-efficiency heating and cooling products, including:

  • Furnaces;
  • Boilers;
  • Central air conditioners;
  • Geothermal heat pumps; and
  • Programmable thermostats.

Low-interest financing through Wells Fargo Bank is also available on qualifying equipment.

Wisconsin incentives

For Wisconsin customers, Alliant Energy partners with Focus on Energy to offer cash rewards on EnergyStar products, including furnaces, air conditioners, boilers and more.

Other Alliant Energy programs

And if you’re an Alliant Energy electric customer, you might be eligible to participate in two programs that provide significant discounts for the power your use during nights, weekends and low-demand times.

Time of Day Pricing

Time of Day Pricing is available for residential electric customers in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. All the electricity you use during off-peak hours - times when the demands for electricity are lowest - is billed at a 50 percent discount.

Although you earn a discount for the off-peak electricity you use, you'll also pay a 40 percent premium for the electricity you use during weekday on-peak periods. But on average, Time of Day customers save at least $3 or more every month.

Appliance Cycling

Appliance Cycling is available for customers in select communities in Iowa and Wisconsin. When you sign up for the program, we'll send a contractor to install a small, radio-activated receiver on or near your outdoor central air conditioner at no cost to you.

During peak demand periods, we'll activate the radio receiver to cycle your outdoor compressor on and off. You'll stay cool even though your air conditioner is working only part-time.

And not only will you lower your electricity usage, Alliant Energy will pay you a bill credit incentive whenever we cycle your air conditioner.
